The dogs I've had have always been cooperative. My favorite breed is the German Shepard. They are a very obedient breed. They would follow me everywhere.
There was one exception. I adopted a dog who was half German Shepard and half Siberian Husky. Apparently, his Husky side was dominant, and he was highly independent. He was the only dog I ever had that had to be walked on a leash. When I walked him, he would constantly pull on the leash.
The Husky is bred to pull. I bought a harness and got on a sled in the snow, and wouldn't you know, he refused to pull, he just stood there.
Eventually, I realized, being confined made him miserable, so I just let him run free.
I had a German Shepard who saved my daughter's life twice. But that's another story.
Enough dog stories.
I commiserate with you on some of the responses you get from people. I get gratuitous insults from time to time. It doesn't trouble me. It brings out my creative, smart-aleck nature.

This next insult wasn't even directed at me, but I couldn't resist the temptation to comment:

I realize that you have no power to either coerce or restrict anyone. You do have the ability to advocate coercive or restrictive measures.
