It seems like such a basic human value; it's sad that it needs to be stated.
It's kind of ironic that I benefitted as a result of her not sharing that value. I felt sort of guilty at first.
Then one day I had the occasion to ask her, "Do you regret having ended our marriage?"
"No," she said, "I kind of miss some of the things we used to do together, but I don't regret ending the marriage."
Having been assured that she was content with how things turned out for her, I was able to move on without remorse.
