Logically, if this so-called patriarchy were increasing men's sexual access, even if it was doing a poor job we'd have better access with it than without it.

My experience suggests that "patriarchy" is irrelevant to men's sexual access. It neither helps nor hinders. Each woman decides individually to whom she will offer sex. Altogether, there are fewer offers from women than there are bids from men. This has nothing to do with patriarchy one way or the other.

To me, the term "patriarchy" is just ideological jargon. It fails to provide me with meaningful information regarding men's experiencing sexual access to women as a scarce resource.
