“…Parents aren’t always the best judges…”

Like everyone, some parents have better judgment than others.

I don’t much care what is or isn’t “politically correct.” Feel free to speak your mind, and I will do the same.

My rhetorical question served its purpose. It was intended to expose the disingenuous claim that “CRT” is not being taught in public schools. Those who make that claim are perfectly well aware that the material to which parents are objecting is indeed being taught. Asserting that CRT is not being taught, while technically correct is a deliberate diversion. Nice try; better luck next time.

Some parents may object to teaching evolution. Nevertheless, evolution is taught in most schools with at most minimal controversy. The collective judgment of the overall parental population is in favor of (or at least not actively opposed to) evolution. Individual parents may use bad judgment, but their collective judgment is amazingly sound.

Since we have a system of representative government with representatives chosen by voters, public schools will inevitably conform to the collective will of the voters. Parents would differ from you in your belief that their will should not influence the public-school curriculum. If public officials seek to deny them their influence, they will vote for new representatives who support their having influence — as happened in the state of Virginia.

I don’t know of any schools whose curriculum explicitly teaches that GLBT doesn’t exist. There are, however, parents who prefer the curriculum to be silent on that issue in the early grades.
