This is my first comment concerning women stating (hypothetically) that, being alone in the woods they would rather encounter a bear than a strange man.

Take note: I am a non-feminist. I don't adhere to any ideology. If someone is more comfortable assigning me to an ideology, you may consider me a radical pragmatist.

I avoid telling people what they should think, do, or say. It is useful however, to know what someone thinks and be able to take their thinking into account during interaction.

If a woman states that she is more apprehensive about encountering a strange man than a bear, she is telling me what she thinks. It is useful to know what she thinks. It is futile to try to tell her that she should think differently. Instead, one should consider the advantage one has in knowing what she thinks over not knowing.

I have known since childhood that women are wary of strange men. That is how they think. It is futile to try to convince them otherwise.

In my life, no women or men are even aware of this controversy. So, it has no relevance to me beyond the intellectual curiosity it inspires.

For some mysterious reason women trust me. I know I am harmless, but I don't know how they know that.
