It may be a problem, but it's their problem.

The large group of people you refer to are probably under 25 years old. Most of them will outgrow it.

Many younger people of both sexes chase members of the opposite sex who they believe are in "the top 10%." When they are unsuccessful, they believe they will never find a mate.

If they looked around, they would see couples walking around together who are not part of the top 10%, yet they have all found mates—they found each other.

As these younger people mature and begin to look deeper than surface beauty, which after all is temporary, most will find a mate.

I speak from experience. When I was less than 25 (actually less than 23) I was chasing, mostly unsuccessfully, what I was told by my male peers was the top 10%. I married my first wife by age 23. She was not what everyone considered the top 10%, but she was tops in my book - that is until 20 years later when she cheated on me and flew the coop, but that's another story.

I made a better choice the second time.

A person who is suitable to share your life is rare. It's like looking for a gemstone in a pile of rubble.
