I'm glad it turned out that way. Sharon had much more to offer. She became a good friend - a friend when I needed one.

It seems to me if someone wants to be unconscious during sex there is something wrong. I would always think carefully.

"But if two people have never had sex before and the woman is unconscious, that is most definitely rape."

I don't know for sure what the law said about it back then. It wasn't an issue that was commonly discussed. The situation with Sharon was the only instance I was ever with a woman who was that drunk. I can't think of any friends or associates who were in that kind of situation. I'd never heard of anyone being prosecuted for sex with an unconscious woman. It was not an issue that was at the forefront of my awareness.

It was definitely not acceptable socially. Most anybody I knew would have strenuously disapproved of someone who did such a thing. I don't know if it was explicitly prohibited by law.

From what I read on the internet it seems to be something that tends to be associated with fraternity parties. I was never involved with or interested in fraternities.
