Why would I need to tell random women that I don't want to marry them? I imagine random women would assume that I don't want to marry them. That seems to be the default position.

You don't qualify as a random woman. You are a woman who left a smart-alec comment, and I, being a natural smart-alec myself, caved in to the temptation to leave a smart-alec retort.

That probably wasn't one of my more clever smart-alec remarks, but it was the best I could do before my first cup of coffee.

My wife once told me that my father should have named me Alex. Sometimes, when she hears me make a smart-alec remark she says, "Okay, Alex!" I know exactly what she means when she says that.
