I have no quarrel with you choosing what you will or will not listen to. My quarrel would be with you deciding what I may or may not listen to. No one can listen to everything that is said, but I insist on choosing for myself rather than allowing others to choose for me. I also insist on others being allowed to choose for themselves.

I seek exposure to ideas that are alternative to my own; people who think as I do are boring.

I would listen to those who claim the Earth is flat just to be aware of how they think. I would be curious to find out why they think as they do. Trouble is, when it comes to “flat Earthers” I don’t know of any.

I try to expose my ideas to those who would oppose them. Doing so allows me to refine and strengthen them, or to modify them when necessary.
