I agree, except that I would leave out the first fifteen words in your statement (“Its almost as if there is a fair amount of credence to the idea that…”) and just write the remaining part.

My definition of Feminism:

Feminism is an ideology that operates as the foundation for a movement whose aim is to advance what its participants consider to be the interests of women.

Feminists would not gain public sympathy or support by explicitly advocating measures to benefit their own self-interests at others’ expense, so instead they profess to be advocating measures that will produce “equality.”

But what is equality? Why is equality considered an ultimate goal for society?

“Equality” can exist in a society where everyone is equally miserable - where everyone is equally hungry, equally cold, equally exhausted from working fifteen hours a day seven days a week; that would be equality.

We are all equal when we are dead.

Contrast the society just described with one where everyone who works eight hour days, five days a week can afford to meet their basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, etc.), but some can also afford yachts and private jets - where everyone has his or her basic needs met, but some have more than others.

Which society would be preferable?

Equality indeed.

If you are interested in my general perspective with regard to Feminism, it is concisely explained in this article:
