Sooner or later the cause of dissatisfaction will have to be openly and directly confronted, and if unresolved will result in divorce. The affair will only complicate the divorce process. It will certainly add to the difficulties in repairing the marriage.

Are you suggesting that lying, cheating, and betrayal of trust is an acceptable solution to anything? To me, it looks like the coward’s way out. One who cheats is one who lacks the courage to directly confront the difficulties involved.
