GO BILLS!
The presence of a few women commentators does not affect my enjoyment of the game.
I believe that male fans' objections are based on their perception that the league was caving in to feminists' demands when they added women commentators. I, too, find it disappointing when anyone caves in to feminists' demands.
However, the presence of women commentators is not entirely the result of feminists' demands. Follow the money. Professional football is, after all, a money-making enterprise. One way for the NFL to increase its revenue is to increase its fan base. Years ago the NFL fan base was almost entirely male. Now, there are a substantial number of female fans.
The presence of female commentators has contributed to attracting female fans and making them feel welcome, thus helping to increase the fan base, and consequently the league's revenue.
When the fan base was predominantly male, many wives tended to resent their husbands spending an inordinate amount of time watching football. Now, many wives watch football with their husbands. My wife is an example. Watching football is one of our common interests. We both root for the Buffalo Bills.
A common role for women commentators is interviewing players.
For that role, interviewing skills are more important than playing experience. The player being interviewed has the playing experience. The interviewer's job is to ask appropriate questions and encourage the player being interviewed to offer interesting answers.
Women commentators can benefit the football viewing experience. It is unfortunate that their presence is the result of the league caving in to feminists' demands.
... and if a woman commentator qualifies as "eye-candy" that doesn't hurt either.
