Exposing children to Christian theology?! HORRORS!! What next? Exposing them to the traditions of those Jews? Child abuse for sure. Burn those books.
Islamophobia? Is it possible that you are suffering from Christophobia? Were you yourself exposed to some doubleplusungood literature that escaped the fire?
I would not prevent any children over whom I exercise guardianship from reading The Chronicles if they desired to do so. I would provide them with copies if asked. Your judgment of me is irrelevant.
If a child over whom I have guardianship were to express prejudiced attitudes towards anyone, I would engage the child in conversation. I would inquire as to the source of his ideas. I would suggest alternative ideas. I would challenge him to question everything he reads and hears. I would suggest that he consider all alternatives and decide for himself.
My policy is to teach children how to think rather than what to think.
Armed with effective thinking skills, a child can be exposed to a variety of ideas and make sound decisions. Adults should provide guidance, not mandates.
If you choose to bar children over whom you have guardianship from reading The Chronicles, that is your prerogative. If you were to pressure libraries or booksellers to remove the books from their shelves I would actively oppose you. Same if you were to urge publishers to cease printing the books.
