You mentioned Damion is in a camp. My facility is maximum security. There was a camp not far from my facility. It was a shock incarceration facility. Non-violent inmates could get time reduced if they were accepted into the camp and successfully completed the program. It was operated with military-style discipline. Inmates performed manual labor. They used to mow the grass at my facility and shovel snow in the winter. The camp is now closed, and the program is gone.
New York is a very liberal state. The prison system emphasizes programs. While the quantity of education is abundant, the quality is lacking. The programs are managed by a prison administration rather than an educational administration. Rather than being concerned with how the program can best educate the student, they are concerned with how the program can be used to increase the efficiency and reduce the cost of operating the prison.
Even in liberal New York, prison is a miserable place. Dameon, I admire your ability to make the most of a miserable situation.
